GOING GREEN: HOW TO BRING THE OUTSIDE IN

With this glorious heatwave still in full swing, a great way to update your home is to introduce botanical themes and natural elements to your interior. The trend for ‘bringing the outside in’, as it’s known, blurs the lines between garden and home, adding texture, colour and vibrancy.

Brilliant botanicals

Choose patterns with a botanical theme for curtains and upholstery to introduce the great outdoors into your home. We love the new fabric design ‘Bahia’ from Jane Churchill. It features a dramatic, large scale leaf pattern which looks incredible on long, floor-to-ceiling curtains and perfectly complements this season’s bold, jewel-coloured velvets. Cole and Son’s ‘Palm Jungle’ design is another favourite of ours. It features a bold fern print available in a huge variety of colourways. The emerald and black version is particularly dramatic and would look amazing used as wallpaper in a dining room or cloakroom.

So you thought trees were just for the garden? Time to think again! Lewis & Wood offers a beautiful wallpaper design called ‘Beech’ which features gentle illustrations of beech saplings. It comes in eight delicate colourways and is a wonderfully subtle way to introduce the outside into your home.

Natural accessories

We recommend adding instant nature to your home with some carefully-chosen botanical accessories. Our pretty Ceramic Leaf Candle Holder comes in white or blue and costs £8 or £12 depending on the size. It’s perfect for tea lights and brings the ideal ‘outside in’ touch to your table or windowsill. You can also easily add bright pops of on-trend emerald or lime green to your home with the right choice of cushions, throws and vases. In our showroom just outside Stamford, we carry a wide range of accessories which can instantly update your scheme. Do pop in and take a look.

Instant greenery

Plants are everywhere this season in the interiors world and they’re such an easy way to add instant colour and texture. Real plants such as ferns and yuccas look great in large, statement pots, but faux plants are becoming increasingly popular and are often hard to tell from the real thing. Our Hydrangea Faux Floral Arrangement (£35) comes in a lovely round glass vase and provides instant natural colour. It’s also guaranteed to look perfect for many years to come – no green fingers required!
