What an amazing summer we’ve had! We’ve absolutely loved all those gloriously hot, sunny days, and although there’s still a bit more warm weather to be had, it’s time to think about how to refresh your home in readiness for the cooler months ahead. Colour and texture is the way to go, with cosy throws and dramatic accessories creating the perfect welcoming haven.
Time to get cosy
Autumn is all about rich colours so why not reflect this in your home with vibrant hues and cosy textures? We love Zoffany’s ‘Koi Carp’ paint shade – a wonderfully earthy red which would instantly update a sitting room to create a warm, cosy vibe when teamed with luxurious fabrics and stylish accessories. Our top fabric choice this season would be the Morris Archive IV The Collector range which contains some lovely patterns featuring emerald greens and burnt oranges. We also love Jane Churchill’s Atmosphere V Collection which offers a gorgeous red and copper striped fabric called Cortez. And why not add an instant hit of luxurious cosiness with Hunters’ Chunky Faux Fur Throw (£120)? The brown and black tones work well with most interior schemes and we think it’s just perfect for snuggling under on a rainy afternoon!
All that glitters
Mixed metals are all the rage for Autumn ’18 so make sure you’re bringing brushed gold and bronze tones into your scheme rather than just sticking to chrome or copper. Our Gold Tripod Lamp Table (£250) is bang on trend with its brushed gold legs, contemporary lines and antique glass top. Our Large Cylinder Mirror (£50) also makes a nod to the mixed metals trend. It’s finished in a gorgeous bronze tone – a great way to add light and interest to a hallway or cloakroom. And if you want to update your fireside storage, our Metal Circle Log Holder (£55) is a lovely contemporary take on a traditional log basket with its clean lines and dark, iron-like finish.
Natural materials are big news for interiors this autumn. They may sound a bit old-fashioned, but – trust us – rattan, wicker and macramé are making a major comeback! Mixing up different textures creates wonderful layers in a scheme, so don’t shy away from unusual combinations. Marble with metal, for example, really works well. A case in point is our Gold Round Tubular Side Table (£250) which combines a gold-coloured, bamboo-inspired base with a marble top. And for some fireside texture, we recommend our Set of 3 Large Round Log Baskets (£270) featuring a lovely wicker weave and curved leather handles – perfect for cosy nights in by the fire!
